SUSTAIN TECHNOLOGY

TRANSLATION FUND

SUSTAIN Technology Translation Fund (TTF)

The SUSTAIN programme has funds of up to £20,000 per application available for individuals who would like to apply for funding that broadly supports the Hub’s two Grand Challenges: Carbon Neutral Iron and Steelmaking and Smart Steel Processing.

This call is open to those within SUSTAIN, and academics within the wider Hub network. More information surrounding eligibility and criteria can be found in the guidance document linked at the bottom of this page.

For this particular scheme, applications through TRL 3.5 - 5 are applicable.  Proposals should be novel and aim to support step-change improvements in one of the two SUSTAIN Grand Challenge areas through the development of a demonstrator, or translation of an existing technology from another application or industry, to steel. Ideas outside of the Grand Challenge scope will also be considered if they are deemed to have significant potential impact upon the UK Steel Industry and the SUSTAIN Grand Challenges. The main scope should be focused on significantly improving the UK steel industry’s Carbon Footprint through direct changes and augmentation of systems and processes, the introduction of novel technology and provision of digital methods for tracking, improved supply chain management and closed loop recycling of products.

For full application and process information, please refer to the guidance document and application form linked below.
